What does naturopathic prescription medicines mean?

The Herb Centre specialises in prescribing and dispensing prescription only medicines including liquid herbal extracts, vitamins and minerals, and other supplements not available elsewhere. Our qualified health care practitioners can dispense prescription only medicine, after assessing that it is suitable and safe for you.

How long do I stay on this treatment?

Your specialist will advise this at the start of your treatment. It entirely depends on what is being treated and the severity of the condition. Some may be temporary whereas other treatments, which are viewed as preventative to maintain wellness and reduce health risks, may have longer durations.

What drug interactions do I need to know about?

Natural medicines are generally very safe, however, there are certain conditions and medications where caution is advised. Please let us know if you are on any medications or have medical conditions to receive accurate advice. Always follow the recommended dosage prescribed by your health professional.

When/Why should I make an appointment with a Naturopath?

  • To assess specific health conditions.

  • To find underlying causes of health problems.

  • For an overall health check to maintain current health and prevent potential health disorders.

  • To promote wellness and well-being.

  • If advised by one of our dispensary staff

What is the difference between your herbalists, naturopaths & holistic nutritionists?

Each of our natural health care professionals approach health in a similar way. They concentrate on treating the client, rather than the disease, and promote primarily a natural healing process, providing remedies to assist the person to regain health.

Medical Herbalists

Medical Herbalists are practitioners trained in the philosophies, principles and practice of western herbal medicine, nutrition and medical science. They prescribe and dispense plant medicines and natural nutritional supplements to support body functions and improve health.

Naturopaths

Practitioners of naturopathic medicine aim to educate and empower clients in their health issues and focus on finding the underlying cause. Providing practical as well as medical advice on how to treat health problems, Naturopathic medicine encompasses various healing methods with a focus on nutritional and herbal therapy.

Holistic Nutritionists

Holistic Nutritionists are trained on using food and natural nutritional supplements to correct deficiencies and promote healing. They prescribe dietary recommendations, based on each person’s unique health, and dispense mainly prescription-only nutrients.
